My Mom had her right hip replaced this past Tues,.....although the surgery went well (no problems), she's having a very hard time with the post-op recovery process,...had a bad reaction to Morphine and she's been sicker than a dog all week!! I'm going down to see her again tonite and will be back home sometime Saturday. If you guys and gals would do a HUGE favor for me please send out a prayer for her speedy recovery!! She could use the divine support and well wishes!! She's really down right now and a nice print of this thread with a bunch of T's & P's from my best web friends would mean a great deal to her!!

Thanks!!

Mac

No problem....In no time, Mum Mac will be back kicking your sorry butt back in line.

Mac - Thoughts and prayers out there for your Mom! Wish her the best from all the folks here at NTOWS!

Mac when I turned 40 I had a total left knee replacement and now the right is being scheduled. Many in thehospital with me had hips. I don't even them as it looked worse than mine.

Tell her my prayers and wishes are with her along with my empathy!

Randy!

Prayers and best wishes for your Mom, Mac. Hope she gets better soon.

Hey Momma-Mac, all the best to you from me and the family. We pray that your recovery is quick and that you soon have the pep back in your step, God Bless.

JP, Beth and young'uns......and mutt!:D

Mama-Mac, giving birth to that fat head probably knocked your hip outta whack. Make Mac pay the bill. Hope you get to feeling better soon!!!!

Teri,...you're killin' me!!! LOL. She's doing much better today...she walked 3-4 times as far as she did y'day...Dr's are very pleased with her recovery so far, despite the setback from the morphine. This is the FIRST and only surgery she's ever had, so it's a whole new experience....not really one she wants to do again, but her quality of life will be much better after she's done w/rehab and PT. Thanks for the T&P's....they're working!! ;) I'll keep ya posted!!

Mac

From one replacement person to another. Tell her I'll send prayers.

The Lady that raised you deserves some heartfelt thanks. You are one of the good guys and I am positive it was in no small part due to some great parenting. So from my family to your's... Get well soon and thanks for raising a very fine son.

I know that when he finally grows up you will continue to be proud of him.

(You didn't think I was going to stay serious through the whole post)

Mac - great to hear that progress is being made. Will continue to remember you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Tex

Mac, I'm sending good wishes and will definitely start praying for your Mom.. If she's put up with you all of these years she probably already has loads of friends upstairs!

Just got home from the Bahamas and saw this sad news. Stay strong big guy. My family and I will be praying for the best outcome. Call me if there is anything I/we can do. God Bless and Keep your Mom and family close to Him.

Sorry to hear that Mac. I'll be thinking about you and your family. Hope everything turns out ok. Big hugs!

Spoke with Mac a little bit ago. His Mom is stable and still in the ICU. The hospital is at capacity and they dont have a room for her, so she will stay in ICU until they can find her a room.

Doc told Mac that she was lucky she was in the hospital when she had the attack, it was pretty massive and they were able to stablize her and get a stint installed.

So right now she is sleeping and she has been very tired. Also in alot of pain, but he will know more tomorrow after he talks to the other docs.

Keep the prayers coming....

Mini

Good news. Must be the season. My Dad went to ER yesterday with another probable heart attack. Last time he got a stint and a couple of months rehab at my house. This time he got the balloon treatment through the artery in the leg and is going to be released today we hope.

Prayers for your mom Mac.

TOXIC

Add mine to the list prayers for both of your familys.

Hang in there Mac family. We're all pulling for the best!

Mac and Tox,

You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers today... God Bless..

Hi Gang,.....Thanks for the continued support. She's in surgery right now as I type this from a Hospital PC. The Dr. spoke with us yesterday and he said he's confident she will survive and he gave her a 80% chance for a complete recovery....vs. a 0% chance of survival if she chose NOT to have the surgery. She has a living will and does NOT want to be on any kind of life support if something should go wrong during surgery. All 4 of us kids and our spouses were able to see her lastnight for a few mins and again this morning at 630am for a few mins prior to the 730 surgery. If all goes well,...Kathy and I will drive home later this afternoon and go abck to work Thursday and Friday. If she doesn't make it, then we will still have to go home and get more clothes and come back down to Tecumseh for the rest of the week and weekend to make arrangements, etc. Honestly,...in all of my years at GM,..I've never wanted to go IN to work on a Thursday as bad as I do this year!!..LOL Keep her in your thoughts and prayers, and I will post a new update later today. Again,....thank you all for your support...it means a GREAT DEAL to me and my family!!

Back at ya later,

Mac

Mac just called. Mom made it through and he said she looked alot better after surgery. I will let him tell any and all details he wants.

She is in ICU now and the next 48 hours are critical. They will have her sleeping for the next 24 at least.

Mac and Kathy (wife) are on their way home to Waterford and he will be at work tomorrow, we are supposed to meet for lunch :)

THANK YOU so much for the prayers and well wishes. Lets keep em rollin for another 48 hours minimum. It really is amazing what the power of prayer from some GREAT people can do!

THANK YOU!

Mini

Mac , Your mom you and your family are in are prayers. Sorry there late I don't check the board as often as I should. Glad to hear things have been going good so far.

God Bless

Mac - keep to the code my brotha, family first. I lost my dad and father-n-law to heart attacks unexpected, and my mother-n-law went through a nasty/bad hip replacement 2 years ago. Mom-n-law is doing great, and even visited us in China in May, so here's praying your mom is as tough as SOB as you are (and Teri is RIGHT!!! LOL) i know he will watch over her in this tough time.

Look forward to seeing you again, been too many years since the Alabama classic we met up with, heck at least Neeley came to the NTOWS rally I won!!! :)

Keep us up to date on Momma Mac, my brothafromanothamotha!

Well......it's Thursday morning...she's 23 hours into the most critical 48 post-op! The Dr. told us she was litterally dying on the way into the operating room,.....they had to bring her back,....got her stabalized and then do the surgery immediately...he absolutely saved her life TWICE (Monday morning upon her arrival at the Hospital and again just before surgery). He said as soon as he opened her up, he had to drain 2 liters of fluid from her lungs...she would have died yesterday if she had chosen not to go thru with it!! I cannot thank you fine folks for the continued help and support thru-out this whole ordeal. (Especially you, Mini,...you're as much of a brother to me as Gordy is and I really appreciate your calls and help w/updates and posts, etc.) What an unbelievably UNEXPECTED turn of events....I'm wiped out, physically and emotionally,..my whole family is for that matter...tough to deal with a parent that close to death! I was at my Dad's bedside when he passed 7 years ago.......really didn't want to do it again with Mom y'day!! My brother drove no less than 85mph in his 'vette from his house to Toledo and made it in a little over 7 hrs.....he never saw any cops and even if he would've been pulled over, he has the "credentials" to get a warning and be sent on his way anyway..if not being given an escort the rest of the way!! Anyway,..I'll keep ya'll posted as I hear more....keep the faith and prayers going!! My Mom really appreciated this thread and your well wishes after her hip surgery a week ago.....i printed it out and took it to her,.....let's hope she gets to read the rest of it!!

All for now,..

Mac

dont mention it Mac. you would do the same for me bro.

see you at lunch

Thanks for the update... Very glad that it was full of good news... You and Tox's family continue to be in my prayers....

Glad things are moving in the right direction. Will keep the thoughts and prayers coming to you and your family.

Tex

Darn it Tox!!! I don't remember seeing anything about your Dad but will for sure add him to my Prayer list. Our Lord and Savior knows I'm very serious about my family here on N.T.O.W.S. I'm sorry I missed it my friend. I either just missed your post or was, er, ahh, ahem, gulp and the rest, just a little short of what you and I have talked about. Anyway, I'm sorry Scott and I pray he comes home alright.

Uncle Billy

Good Morning NTOWS!! Good News from my sister last night! They have taken Mom off of the respirator and she's breathing on her own now,.....all vitals continue to remain stable and about one hour from now, will be the end of the 48 hrs! Mom was able to speak a little last night and she was glad that she was NOT on life support and all of the tubes, hoses, pumps, etc were just routine and will all be removed over the next few days. When Sue (my older sister) told Mom that I was coming back down tonite after work she was able to smile a little and squeeze Sue's hand. The Dr's continue to be optimistic, and reassured everyone that the fluid retention will subside and actually diminish over the next day or two.....also considered normal and is a result of the organs getting jump started again and everything has to re-sync so to speak. All of the thoughts and prayers are really working,.....you folks are something else!!! My whole family cannot thank you enough,...and if anyone doesn't believe in miracles...it's high-time to start,...because after what this 82 year old woman went thru over the last 8 days and survived,....is TRUELY a Miracle!!! I cannot wait to see her tonite!!

On a side note,....today is "Black Friday" at GM...they will announce 3rd Qtr results and the next round of cutbacks, layoffs, etc..etc. in a closed-circuit employees only broadcast from 11-12pm. It will not be good.....infact grim at best!! BUT,..for some strange reason, I have an erie sense of "calm" this a.m. and I gotta believe I will survive this round too....one can only hope!! Regardless,...all of my thoughts are with my Mom right now and with your Dad too Tox,....man,..we sure have a lot in common lately aye?! Let's keep the prayers and good vibes going......they're working wonders!! I'll post another update later today with the "Black Friday" results and the updates on Ma!

Again,...thank you, to the best group of people on the ENTIRE internet!!

all for now!

Mac

Thanks again for the great news in your update. We will continue to think and pray for your Mom and Tox's Dad. You guys say Hi to them for me.

Thats great news Mac . Are family prayers are with your mom and your family as well as for you today . Hope things continue to improve .

Mark

Great news, Mac Daddy. Your familys is in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself. These types of things take a toll on each individual. I watched my Grandmother die last month after 3 days by her bedside due to heart attack. After a week there, I was really run down and ended up sick. Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. Yes, I have to sound like a mother right now. Ha!

Toxic, I must have missed that about your dad. Hope all is well. Keep your chin up!

BIG HUGS!

Update: Saturday Morning Nov. 15th. Mom had a VERY BAD day y'day....almost lost her again! This up and down emotional roller coaster is deffinitely not for the faint of heart (no pun intended!) She's in her own room now,..that's good,...but her total and complete exhaustion is just getting to be too much for her to deal with. This is going to be the longest recovery period i've ever heard of with a heart patient. she's been retaining fluid again in her lungs and they've given her meds to help alleviate that, but only seeing her on weekends is tough on me!! Thank GOD, my sisters have been taking turns coming down daily, (they both live 40 miles away) so atleast there's family with her every day!! I did get a chuckle last weekend though,...she's a very religeous lady and the ONLY "bad" four letter word you'll ever hear out of her is a "damn" and she's gotta be really p-o'd about something before she says that!! Well.....she told my oldest daughter Jamie,..."Jamie,...this really SUCKS!"....I just about busted out laffin' but I didn't want to startle her, so I just looked at my wife and we both had to put our hands over our mouths and keep from laughing.....but that pretty much summed up her pain level. On a scale of 1-10.....if it "Sucks"...it's a 9.5!! LOL!!! Keep the prayers coming....she's still with us, and even though she doesn't seem to feel any better, she IS healing and her vitals continue to be good (after they got her stabilized and got some fluid out y'day), but my whole family really appreciates your prayers....I sincerely believe she will pull thru this and eventually she'll be able to go home and hold her new and first, great grandson "Jack" again.....that will be a real blessing!!

I'll continue to keep you posted....Kathy and I will go back to Waterford later today and hopefully.....we'll get to head back knowing that nothing really "sucked" today!!

Take care friends,....I'll talk to ya'll later,

Mac

You can count on continued prayer and well wishes sent to Momma Mac from our family, including my youngest one, Jack. Sorry to hear about the ups and downs, but try to keep your "eye on the prize", a full recovery and time to spend with Jack and many, many more grandbabies.

God Bless your Mom, your family, and you Mac Daddy! ;):)

Mac and Tox,

You guys and families are in my prayers every morning. Please post an update when you have a chance.

I JUSTED talked to my sister Sue, 30 mins ago,.....mom's doing fine today,..infact Sue hasn't sounded that cheerful in a week!! She's still very tired, but the Doctor's assured her that she IS making progress and continuing to heal,..so she should remain optimistic and focus her attention on getting as much sleep as possible and letting her body heal itself and not to get bummed out about the speed (or lack thereof) of her recovery. The fact that she's 82 and went thru the double ass-kicking that she did, is the reason she's slow to re-coup. All of her strength is going towards healing her heart and chest and the hip...and even though she's still retaining some fluid in her lungs, that to will subside as more energy is focused there and away from her heart. They are also going to alter her diet a little bit so she can get more nutrients in a liquid form (energy shakes, Ensure, etc) since her throat hurts so much from tubes and it hurts to swallow. They want to make sure she's taking in enough calories and right now she's not because it hurts her to swallow. The protein and vitamin laced liquids will help with that!! Man,..she's one strong woman...I'll give her that much!! Sue, told me she's in better spirits today and the swelling in her hands and arms is going waayyy down!! another GOOD sign. Anyway,....I feel better now....I'm glad she called me with good news...I hate to bore ya'll with these updates, but I swear,..your prayers are working and Mom's on the mend!! When I told her that there were almost 70 replies to this thread...she couldn't believe it!! When I first printed it out, it was 2 days after hip surgery and there were 13 replies,.....she hasn't seen it since. I'll print it out this weekend and take it to her,..she'll be soooo exccited to know that my friends from all over the country and Canada too...are pulling for her. How cool is THAT?!.

anyway...thanks again...you folks are truely the BEST!!

all for now,

Mac

Very glad to hear she is doing better. Keep on healing Mama Mac!

Positively great news. Thanks for the update, not boring us at all. Pass on our get well wishes and let her know she and your family continue in our thoughts and prayers.

WOW!! Just got a call from my sister,.....Mom's being transfered back to Tecumseh (Home) to continue her recovery at the Re-Hab center where she was going originally before she had her heart attack!! Now THAT's progress folks!! She'll be 5 minutes from my sisters' again and no more trips to Toledo!! I'm FIRED UP!!! Yet another miracle on her road to recovery! She's still very tired all the time, but man alive.....2 weeks ago she was on the edge of her grave with both feet on a banana peel...now she's on her way back to her home town for re-hab!!

That's the BEST news I've had in over a month!! Will drive down to see her tomorrow!

Thanks again EVERYONE,.....you helped her stay alive!! SWEEEEEEEEEETT!!!!!

all for now,

Mac

Mac, give Mom a big ol hug and kiss for me and tell her WELCOME HOME!!!!

What GREAT news!!!:D What absolutely GREAT and welcome news!!!:) I truly believe the credit goes to your tough as iron Mom and Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ along with all of the prayers and best wishes sent along for her..

If Mac prints this out for Mac's Mom, just remember to please take it easy and keep getting better and better. And we'll keep pulling for you, that's for sure.;)

God Bless, Uncle Billy
