I have a Browning Midas MI 4000 and the bail is not closing fully causing my line ( retrieve) to wrap around the bottom of the spool. I am guessing the bail spring is bad. Always scared to mess with that part of a spinning reel since it is spring loaded. Has anyone done this before and is best to bring it in for repair? Thanks, kenny

A FEW YEARS OLD, MAYBE 3. FOUND A LOCAL PLACE THAT IS CHECKING ON PART TO FIX IT. AND THEY WILL GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE ON FIXING IT.

I've done it before on some Garcia Mitchell 300s; no problem. Conventional wisdom is to close the bail manually to reduce line twist, so you could save the money and just do that.
