It is a discussion on Illinoiscarry.com No one knows the answer for Illinois yet

Our laws are a mess, I do not have a conceal carry, guns in the boat during any hunting season is.....depends, and open carry is against the law. So No. I do carry a big stick for one legged frogs.

I carry on my boat for sure. Usually just because I already have my pistol on me (legally of course). I do prefer to take it out and stow it just in case I catch that big one that takes me for a swim! I am not sure about the law here in CO regarding boats, but you can carry in your vehicle without a CCW. It is essentially and extension of your home. Since the law states vehicle, and a boat is a motor vehicle, I would assume the same applies.

Colorado allows a person to carry a firearm in a vehicle, loaded or unloaded, if its use is for lawful protection of such person or another's person or property. [C.R.S. 18-12-105(2)]

Love your country but boy am i glad i don't need to carry to protect myself.

Well if I did, bilge pump works :p cause he's gotta go, cause I CAN'T with him sharing the ride

When at the age of 16, my cousin wanted to go crappie fishing with me one night. No problem, I kept a flat bottom wood boat chained on the river (kept it submerged in the river to keep the wood swollen). Kerosene lantern on the bow seat and a cane pole the length of the boat, small end about the size of a broom handle, wood slats in the bottom of the boat to prevent stepping through the bottom. The cane pole was to flick snakes that would wrap around the latten to warm up. Easy task, just make sure you had the center part of the snake one flick and gone. Weighted cattle food sack to put the crappie in other wise you have snakes trying to eat fish on a stringer. To make a long story short, my cousin wanted to try to flick a snake out, no problem just make sure you get the center balanced part of the snake. No he just put the pole in, flicked the pole in the river, snake in the bottom of the boat (mad). With wood slats in the bottom of the boat, you still had water in the bottom and you carried a coffee can to bail every once in a while, MY COUSIN pulls out a 38 (I did not know that he had it, one reason if I did he would not go or leave the gun in the car), 6 SHOTS into the bottom of the boat. Now the lantern is floating down the river (no other light on the boat) we are standing/squatting on the seats, cannot see or hear due the 6 BRIGHT FLASHES and LOUD SHOTS into the BOTTOM OF THE BOAT. Cut the anchor rope start paddling to the bank, I am mad, snake is mad and trying to get vision back after bright flashes on a dark river, reached the bank jumped to the shore and told (YELLED SOME VERY OFF COLOR WORDS) my cousin he was on his on. Bullet holes basically swelled back up after keeping wet all the time, lost the feed sack full of crappie, lost the lantern and had to come back the next day and tar the holes. Last time my cousin went any where with me.

I think now he might be on the show "America's Dumbest Criminals" :p. Course then I don't know. Mid 80's I was working with Iberia Parish Sheriff's office K9 and we got called to assist another Deputy on a burglary call. Checking out around the outside of the building and the big AC unit kicked on, poor AC didn't know what hit it - yep, that Deputy got so spooked he shot it 6 times. Damn glad he didn't have an auto. o_O:D But we were rolling around on the ground LOAO. Burglar was inside the building and got so scared from the gunshots, he hauled a*s, but both dogs got some "MOON PIE" aka gluteus maximus. We were laughing again while his butt was getting stitches at the hospital. Dog was happy too

Sounds like something Roscoe and Cletus would do! Hahaha. Both good stories, thanks for the laughs!

On our local Corps of Engineers lakes, it's I believe it's technically illegal (federal land), although I have not researched the issue since they changed the federal law to allow carry in federal parks, according on the laws of the state where the park is located.

Ummmm, think I'd have to take a portipotty for TOX LOL Can't have him dumping toxic waste in the lake :p

As far as I can figure, if you are hunting, you need a Conceal Carry. Open Carry is a big NO NO!!!! I think that is dumb, but that is my personal opinion.

Here in Tennessee, if you are hunting - open carry is not only OK but why would one conceal? The purpose of a firearm when hunting is to use it. Carry concealed is hoping you DO NOT need to use it.

Let me restate, if you are hunting you can carry a gun in a boat. If you are not hunting, then the only way to have a gun in the boat is have a conceal carry. Open carry has failed two times since I moved back to AR. You can carry a side arm during hunting season if you are in the woods and hunting, do not walk around out of the woods with open carry. They did get conceal carry passed for National Park and forest. It is a big mess plus the only casino is in Hot Springs. Sounding states are getting a large amount of tax money that could stay in the state. I thought Ohio laws were a mess.
