What removes hard water (calcium spots) from outboards?

You might also try car detailing "clay bar"...it takes the hard water spots off of my car's finish and wheels without much problem.

    Boatless Bank Trash

Congrats, I think... If you find yourself in WI and have not bought a new one by then I'll gladly do my part to keep you off the bank!

    squealing sound

It is probably the drive shaft up by the powerhead...there is a seal at the bottom of the engine where the drive shaft passes through the engine cover. That seal can dry out and it squeals. On mine I only hear it when at low rpm's or in neutral and it changes pitch with the rpm's just like a car...

    Slow to get on plane

I have the same boat with a 115 2-stroke. I have had it since 2002 and learned the best way to get a decent hole shot after much trial and error. You will never get the same performance as a big motor but time and practice will make up a lot of the difference. I tried just mashing the gas...

    Battery Lesson Learned

Definitly not alone. I did the same thing a couple years ago. It was the first trip of the season and I pulled up on a windblown rock wall. Quickly put the TM down and on high speed to stay off the rocks...it worked for a couple minutes then went to about 25% power immediately. I learned a hard...

    Car buying advice

I have a 2006 Pathfinder...bought it new and it has almost 100K now. While it is not my favorite vehicle it has been very reliable both mechanically and electronically. I take good care doing preventative maintenance and that has not been any more expensive than the Fords I have owned in that...

Found A Cool Website For Mid-Westerners

I use that site quite a bit for fishing reports...WI and IL have a lot of info but the other states do not have nearly as many contributors.

A mystery to me and the mechanic

It is really easy...all you need is the Silicone spray, take off the cowling and coat the area where the driveshaft passes through. Do the same on the outside of the cowling where it passes though and for good measure spray the shaft down by the lower unit. Don't be shy with it and DO NOT use...

A mystery to me and the mechanic

My 115 2 stroke does it on occasion. In my case it is the drive shaft bearing/seal at the bottom of the cowling. Get some silicone lube and lube that bearing and the shaft where it heads out of the cowling and towards the lower unit. I do it once or twice a season and no more annoying squeal.

    kids rod and reel

When my son was 4 he got a Wally Marshall spinning rod...after a day of practicing he got the hang of it pretty well. Now a year later he has it down. They sell them at BPS and I think it is intended to be a crappie rod; it is a perfect size for him. I think it is 5ft long at most and the...

    Trailer running lights stopped working

Problem solved! At least identified. I bought the test light and discovered there was no power on the running light tab in the 7 pin connector at the truck. Looked under the hood and found the blown fuse. Still not sure why it blew of course but I have lights again just in time to head out of...

    Trailer running lights stopped working

It is a Nissan Pathfinder...2006. I'll take a look at fuses as well just in case. Thanks again for all the help, I should be able to track this down.

    Trailer running lights stopped working

Thanks Gilbert...I have the day off tomorrow so will give that a try! Most of the wiring is internal to the trailer so hopefully the problem is near one of the lights or in my 7-pin adapter.

    Trailer running lights stopped working

Greg, I do not have a V/Ohm tester...although as many times as I could have used one around the house and boat it might be worth buying. Also worth noting none of the running lights work front to back.
